About the Artist
I was born in Aurora, Indiana located along the Ohio River. I loved art from an early age. My mother was my biggest fan collecting all my scribbles and mushed up pieces of clay works. She was diagnosed with breast cancer and passed away when I was sixteen. Little did I know these memories of events, situations and imagery would affect the work I would end up creating as an artist. I became interested in the bright, fluorescent dyes and imagery that were seen under the microscope. I realized while exploring and creating art at Herron School of Art and Design, that I would start working with cancer imagery and terms that came to mind: cellular, rapid growth, disease, deterioration, sickness, deadly cures, and how the body and mind cope through treatment of disease.
